has anyone ever made sense of the strings on the top of the charcoal bags? is there a method to the madness? sometimes i pull one end and it all comes out easy and sometimes its in a knot and i have to try the other end and so on...... it kind of makes me crazy every time !

No, I have the same problem with feed bags too.

Sometimes you pull the string and it works... mostly not.

sometimes they have that little strip you pull and it is supposed to pull the string out... sometimes that works but mostly not.

Most of the time I just say screw it and cut the bag open so I don't have any unnecessary reason to get my blood pressure up and want to destroy something.

Thankfully Kingsford took the string away and just made it so you tear the paper at the top... maybe everyone will go that way eventually.

The easiest way to deal with those pesky strings is to open the bag with a knife. I keep a utility knife next to my charcoal stash at all times.
