So I was out and about yesterday and earlier this morning and on more than one occasion I heard people talking about Daylight Savings Time and more than once I heard some people talking about gaining an extra hour of daylight.

It occurred to me that's totally impossible unless you move the earth's axis or slow it's rotation.Upon further examination the only thing that got moved here was the position of the clock so to speak.𝨚👀

Guess I had a little more time on my hands than I thought!

I have never liked DST. When I lived in Arizona things seemed to function just fine without changing clocks twice a year.

DST is completely useless and just messes up our sleep. I have enough sleep issues without moving the clock around when the sun comes up.

I hate clocks and their authoritarian "time". Then there's the humans that jack with them and tell us what time stuff has to be done. I find it funny these days with people who wear watches. I mean, unless you're timing something constantly...there are clocks everywhere, most people carry a mobile phone, even grandpa's jitterbug has a freaking clock on it! Old habits are hard to break I guess...

DST needs to end. It did serve a purpose at one time, but that was many moons ago and is no longer applicable.

Like I said at the top of the thread I'm just basically goofing on the idea that there are people out there who actually believe they're getting an extra hour of daylight. DST in itself is kinda stupid but minor in the scheme of things.

I wish one year soon congress will ratify one of the bills to keep the clocks the same year round.

As it is now states can opt out of DST but have to remain on standard time. They can't run DST year round.

A lot of states want to go with DST year round, but under current federal law, it isn't possible.

Here in New Hampshire, I’d prefer to stay on daylight savings year round. I lived in Indiana before they joined the daylight savings plan. The sun sets about an hour later there than it does here. It should be up to the states.

Just my opinion.

I have always said 1/2 the difference and be done with changing it, there is a bill out right now that states that very thing, hope it passes

Ha ha!...yea, right. Not sure about conscientiousness, but wearing a watch in this day and "time" definitely says something...

I'm a retired welder metal fabricator. I dont wear anything on my arms or hands to get caught in stuff or electrocute me!:emoji_laughing: I'm also not big on vanity:emoji_wink:...and I have seldom been late to any required time or appointment in my life.

Interesting article though. I have no doubt watch wearers think of themselves as such.

For years Hoosiers, Arizona & Hawaii were the sane ones that did not change their clocks. Then a few years ago some brainiacs in Indiana's legislature decided to show their stupidity and voted in DST. I hate having to deal with this twice a year.

My reason for hating DST...

It gives the wife a chance to make the "after work" honey-do list longer... "Well, We have more daylight after work now to do more things around the house in the evenings after work"... BS... No more DST ...

I hate it, jest a waste of good bbq and hot tub time...neither is fun in the dark.

A lot of random thoughts but here we go; businesses actually lobby congress not to “fix” it. DST gives more PM daylight when the stores/restaurants are open to take your money. Candy industry lobbied to keep it until November so there’s an extra hour of trick or treating. Golf industry too, more golf time equals more clothes, balls, clubs etc. Watches are just Man Jewelry now, unnecessary but still looks good. And hot tubbing in the dark is awesome. No one sees you, it’s super quiet/peaceful to have a drink with someone while looking at the stars.

I can still have plenty of drinks while it is light in the hot tub. No one can see me in the backyard hot tub anyway. After 30 years of marriage I still don't mind seeing the wife on daylight...lol
