$.88 butts and $1.78 St Louis Cut ribs in NC

The DJ Galaxy foods stores in Mount Airy and Booneville have pork butts for $.88 and Food Lion has St Louis cut ribs for $1.78 in their weekly ads....

I'm leaving on a swing to Pilot Mountain, Siloam and Mount Airy in a little while to run errands and do shopping. I'll be stopping at Galaxy along the way.

Hopefully the butts aren't trimmed too lean. I picked up two at Food Lion last week that were trimmed pretty close and should have added more fat as the kabanosy snack sticks came out OK but the breakfast sausage links are a bit mealy. That's my bad too as I have pork fat on hand. If you're looking for butts to freeze, ask the butchers if they have them already frozen. I've gotten some of the on-sale meats frozen before.

I've never asked at Galaxy if they have pork or beef trimmings but you can get beef and pork fat at the Mount Airy Meat Center if Galaxy doesn't have trimmings.

We're in Pinnacle about 5 miles from Pilot Mountain and 10 miles from King. Please give me a shout and stop by sometime. We didn't get a chance to meet at the Carolina Gathering and I'd enjoy putting a face with the screen name.

Yea i got sick the weekend of the Carolina gathering... had been dealing with some health issues... i should be there next year...I drive by pinnacle everyday ( i live in Winston work in Mt Airy) We should get together and smoke sometime...matter of fact i have a church BBQ tomorrow evening if you are free i smoked all the meat and we are potluck the side dishes If you want to come its in Winston Salem from 5-7pm, i have cooked PP Ribs Drumsticks chicken tenders and hotdogs. PM me and i will send you the address.

In a couple weekends i will have a new smoker and you can come over and smoke with me on we can do some brisket and beef tenderloin or something! Let me know!

The DJ Galaxy stores have truckload meat sales a few times a year. In April the Mount Airy store had "heavy" pork ribs (the whole slab, not SLCs) in 30# cases for $.73/#. $24 a case for ribs was good enough that I wished I had more space in my big freezer....
