It was not long ago that I stumbled onto this site while surfing for BBQ recipes and info. Lurked for about a week, learning tons, and enjoying all the friendly threads about everything bbq. I wanted to see the Q-views, so I registered. It was over, I fell in love with this site, and have spent many, many hrs, reading, posting, laughing and drooling here. I have made some great friends, and improved my abilities to make good food by 10 times. I know the learning is just beginning. Its funny that when I joined here jut a week or two before thanksgiving, I had a charbroil silver, stock from the factory, and knowledge of how to burn food, and suffer through over smoked, dried ribs, and black pork butts. Not only has this site helped save my food, all the fine folks who make this place great, have helped me turn that POS silver into a pretty decent smoker, and the menu items I have cooked in it continues to be endless.
So I say to all of you folks who have had a hand in helping me learn the art of Q................THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I won't go through the list of members who have contributed, it would be a page long, and I fear I might forget a name or two. Those who are responsible know who they are.
On the eve of my 500th post,I sit here with great antiipation of using my Lang 60 tomorrow with my first smoke on it! How much better could an old fat guy have it?
Some day, in the future, I'll look back at these days and laugh. I'll have cooked hundreds of lbs of meats by then, and the stick burner will be second nature to me, and I will consider my self"well seasoned" in the art of Q, and hopefully I will be extending myself, and my knowledge to others, just like you folks have done to me.
I raise my glass to you all, thanks!
Capt Dan.
