500 gallon RF/grill build

I got a little done this weekend.  I went with the firebox I had, if it turns out to be too small I'll change it out later.

Back to work on the build.  I have moved along pretty good in the last few weeks.  The pic above is where the propane burners enter the chamber on the left.  All of my shelfs are built and I am close to painting.  I pulled it outside yesterday afternoon to burn in the firebox while I was doing other things, heats up good and holds good, not sure on temps i dont have thermometers installed.  going to give it a good burn out soon, finish up some other things and paint.

Yes Tony the black pipe is the burner.  I will try and get some pics and post.  I am also going to plumb the trailer for a propane burner in the firebox.  I will add that later if I see that I need it.

The twin stacks, might you be doing a reverse smoker in the right pit? 

Just thinking, with a sliding 'door' on the separator, and a smoke deflector, you could do a reverse smoker in the right pit.

Then with the propane setup in the left pit, you could do a 'low & slow' smoke in it, at the same time.

OR with the 'door' open, and the smoke deflector out, you could grill (on the right pit) and smoke on the left pit.

Larry that is just what I got.  There is a small sliding door between the two sides for that reason.  I'll show in more detail in later pics.

I am finishing up with this thing tonight (hopefully)!  I will have pics soon of the finished product.  It has been painted and burned out good a few times next weekend She will be put to work for the first time. A friend of mine is having a birthday party for his wife.  Not sure what is on the menu yet but I think pork.  Don't worry I'll get pics of that too.

Got the finished pics.

This weekend i will see how well it cooks.  As of right now pork shoulder is on the menu. 

Total cost for the project so far is about $800.  The only thing that I know I am going to do in the near future is install fenders and lights.  I have burned it out a few times real good and yesterday I sprayed the inside down with veg. oil good and seasoned it good at 450-500 F for about 5 hours.  I think it is ready to cook on now.

BTW your fire box will work out fine. Mine is "too small" according to the charts its 20x28 or 26 but it works great on the 500 and holds temps for a very long time. Yours will be plenty.
