Hi fellas! Been awhile since I have posted in here, but I am starting a new build and I thought you guys would like to follow along!

I have acquired a 400 gal. propane tank. I filled it with water and a bottle of dawn dish soap. I let it sit for a month then started cutting on it. This tank is 1/4" thick so it took awhile with a angle grinder!

Here are some pics of my current progress....

The water forces any leftover propane gas out of the tank before you cut on it. The dish soap pulls any propane out of the pores in the metal. Welcome to the smoking community!

Progress! Doors are in, now to come up with some hinges.

This is gonna be good... may I make a suggestion... Think about hinging the solid middle strip between the two doors... just thinking whole hog if the occasion ever comes about...

Hinges and handles are on! Had the chance to teach my 10 year old how to weld also!

Nice start, it must be a whole bunch warmer in KS than it is here. Hopefully your son enjoys welding enough to keep at it and take some classes in the high school VOAG program.

Update: Bottom rack rails are in place

Tacked up the stacks today. That's my neighbor using the plasma cutter to open the holes. We have the front stack at the top of the cook chamber and the rear stack positioned between the two racks. Our goal is to be able to fine tune where the smoke and heat comes across the food.

We picked up our trailer for the smoker today. It needs at least one new axle, wiring, etc.
