40 clean bones

Discussion in 'Pork' started by smokin peachey, Oct 22, 2017.

  1. I spent most of my weekend doing a pulled pork fundraiser. 40 pork butts went on Friday night around 8 after being trimmed and rubbed.

I wrapped everything after 12 hours of smoke and took them to 205 and all of the bones pulled clean.

We shredded everything thing up and it was sold in 1lb quart containers. We ended up with 177lbs of finished meat. We started with 340lbs of raw meat.

That was a long night I bet.

Pork looks great. Nice smoke ring, juicy and bark.

    Bucket full of bones. HA
  4. I ended up with 5 gallons of juice that I drained out of the pans and then put back in the meat after it was shredded.

I should have gotten a better picture of the bucket of bones so the title made more sense!

Is it ok for dogs to eat butt bones? I was under impression that they shouldn’t be given cooked bones. My lab would love them and I been throwing them away! Have 2 on the smoker now!
