That's pretty cool! I've always been fascinated by miniature engines. I also lvw the little working model steam engines. I went through an RC phase years back and was amazed at the amount of power those little nitro engines can produce. 3 hp out of something that weighs less than a pound is just ridiculous.

That is simply amazing. The balance must be very close to perfect. Just think what a larger version of this might be capable of. Thanks for the post.
 
I think there was an extension off the crank shaft that was being turned by some sort of motor. Maybe a power drill.
 
k, thanks. i didn't understand what it was. i thot it was something to generate power.
 
I didn't have the sound up when I watched the video so I don't know if it's a working engine or not. I would imagine it is and the manual cranking was just so it was slow enough to see the detail of the valves moving and such.
 
Did a Google search and it says that it does run on compressed air.

Fine piece of machine work and a lot of patience.
 
I wonder how many hours was involved in making that ?
