Well.... This question was posted on this forum 2 and a half years ago by happy smoker and did not receive any replays...
Currently I am having the same dilemma: is it worth to spend $1000 for this smoker? It looks like it's well build, made of stainless still, insulated and per my conversation with Sausage smoker reps hold temp within 2 degrees. Still, it's a relatively small smoker which won't hold #30 of sausages (maybe #20) from my point of view. Should last looooong. I read a lot of reviews about MES40, Smoke Hollow 44, etc. Apparently, those smokers are not intended for sausage making and not exactly reliable smokers....
Is anyone has an experience with this smoker? Thank you in advance.

Yeap... I am on my path to go ahead and pull a trigger and get it. Called them yesterday to discuss some details and when I asked the guy if they are going to have those smokers on sale for July 4th - he replied that this is less likely because they are on sale already... This is true: they have both #30 smokers on their website for $699 & 799 but elsewhere else (including Amazon) the price is from $999 to $1239.

nepas has had problems with his smoker controller... BUT .... The response from Sausage Maker was immediate... tech support asked questions and they worked out what would be done and parts were in the mail immediately.. Good old fashioned American Customer Service....

If I had the money, I'd spend it in a heart beat... Sausage Maker makes quality stuff... Mo-betta than the Chinese krap at my price point... Although, after a few years and $$$$$, I did get my MES 30 working pretty nice....

The 30lb Country TSM Smoke is the best electric i have had or used. I did have the switch go out and TSM got on it quick even though they sent the wrong ones but the quickly sent the right ones. I had help from the great folks here on the forum and they got me wired up with my PID. Now my 30lb is perfect, hold temps within 3-8* with the PID.

Why dont TSM put a PID on it instead of the OEM Digital? Cost perhaps.

When i bought mine it was $899

Fare enough. I am sure you would spent that kind of money for something to your liking but this is what I like. This is my hobby. To each his own.
daveomak - I am with you on that. Looks like a good quality unit and it does what I need. To spend $950 (with shipping) is not an easy decision but.... I'll survive.
nepas - thank you for the review. BTW, what is TSM? Secondly, the digital temperature controller which comes with the unit is not good enough? The guy SausageMaker I spoke with over the phone said that build-in controller is able to control temperature within 3-4 degrees.... Do I have to buy Auber plug-and-play PID controller (around $200) in addition to the unit? Am I missing something?

TSM .... The Sausage Maker.... nepas had trouble with his controller... Try the controller that's built in....
nepas knows more folks and lead you down the path to what will work.... Heck, I use a dimmer to control the heat in my smoker.... The temp control is there in the event I overshoot the temp using the dimmer...
Enjoy your new smoker.... they are cool.... well worth it and you are supporting American workers and their families... THAT'S a BIG DEAL !!!!!

P2018, Another great but more expensive american made smoker is the PK pro 50 or 100 series. Work great for smoking sausage with temps down to 60 degrees.
