Very nice looking smoker.... Good work..... I like the air inlets to the FB...
Check temps in the FB vs CC.... If the FB is way to hot, you may need to make to opening between the FB/CC larger.... The pipe you have in there, looks a little small for good heat flow.....
The tank looks to be about 150 gallons.... can't tell for sure..... at 150 gallons, the opening should be about 138 sq. in. for good air flow.... and the stack should be 590 cu. in. and about 5" ID stack about 30-35" above the CC.... Something to think about if you have trouble with even heating....

The outlet from the fb is 9" round and the stack is 5" and the outside is 22: and it extends down in the cc about 8" so it about 30". I fired it up and being 1/4 "plate took awhile to heat the thing up. seems to me I need to discard the tray i made for the fb cause i need the whole fb not just whats in that tray.The temps i got the cc got to 250 and was pretty even within 10 degrees from one end to next and fb was about 650. Had a prob at first with draft but once it heated up seem fine. going to try it again this week and give it a true test without the screened box in the fb so it has the whole surface to burn. I kinda went of feldons calc to figure it out. I knew the fb was a little small need to add 3" to it but i thought i give it a shot.i am going to add a propane assist to this also waiting for it to come in. I think it will help warming this thing up and then maintaining after smoking. Any suggestins would be great. Thanks guys

There is a lot of heat trapped in the FB.... consider doing something with FB air inlets to move that heat to the CC....
Looking at the "screen box" in the FB, consider changing that out for a wood grate... install the wood grate about 5" above the bottom of the FB..... that will allow for ash storage under it and allow for more air flow... One other addition that has proved effective is an additional air inlet in the FB across from the FB/CC opening..... When that is open, it allows for all that super heated air in the FB to move into the CC, without adding any additional air to the fire..... If you still feel something needs to be done to help the situation, I would suggest enlarging the opening between the CC and FB....

Ok i am taking out the expanded metal box and making a grate on the bottom for sure. I might try to add more pipes from the fb to the cc going to look at that today. Im thinking on use one of them brush burners for gas assist any suggestion would be great. Again thank you for the advice.

You may also may want to do something with the top of the firebox, it looks like you have a door and two vents in the top. Consider welding those up and putting vents on the side at or below the fire grate. Your front pie vent may be good enough to get the air moving towards the CC pipe but you may want to block the lower side after adding the lower vent on the side below the grate.. It would be quicker to test than adding additional size to the CC/FB opening.
Yea i took the basket out just making the grate today and going to try as is. Get a good reading across the fb and the cc and see what i have for numbers. I was thinking the same thing it was a old wood stove that had holes in there already. I thought it be ok but thinking like you might want to close up. But i will give it one more try like it is before i change. Anyone have thought on a propane assist? Im buy one of those self ignigiting brush burners from harbor frieght. Thinking on mounting it in the fb so after smoking i can just turn that on cook the rest of the way. Thanks for the info guys

Need to make an appointment to get sandblasted not sure how booked they are. Then bring home and paint didnt want to get it grease all over and be hard to paint. So I hope in the next few weeks. Ill post more pictures once it painted with all the wood on it and it has a stainless bottom. Cant wait!
