My FIL Local 3 (NYC) electrical pension is still over $80K/year and he is in his mid 80's...should have listened to him when I graduated college.

My Grandpa was a Master Plumber in the NYC school system. They were very protective about who was able to join the union back then. You basically had to be a family member to get in. He passed away the year before I was born, and my grandmother lived a very good life on his pension. She's the only person I know that has owned 4 cars , two houses and never had a drivers license or a real job.

my wife's whole family was in that union all the way up to a business agent (about 3rd highest position).
 
I wonder if they new each other. My grandfather's name was Norman Bellman. He passed away in 1958 or 9 I believe. He was a huge Brooklyn Dodger fan.

My father, older brother and me are retired Local#38 Plumbers or Fitter's, I was both.

God no! NY is bad enough...lol That is actually a large fluke caught here off Long Island. Never had the pleasure of fishing for Halibut.
