If you are looking at spending serious money go with the Yoder, I have a smoke fire I love the grill it was a flop in the beginning but they have finally made it work right. Everyone will have their opinion. I like the sear on the smoke fire, and it's smoke mode.
Looks taaaasssssttttttyyyyyy!!! I did one last weekend and it came out great, I pulled it from the smoker at 125, and hit it hard with 650f preheated grill, and it looked just like yours. Good job, and I bet you enjoyed every bite of delicious Tri Tip!
I have a kamado and it is the second most versatile grill. It is a battleship it holds it‘s set temp, but try getting it from smoke to 700 degrees takes an hour. Love cooking rotisserie chicken on the kamado does a great job!
Well grill daddy has a PID controller. I am working on a PID controller for that model. Would you be interested in being a beta tester? PM me if you want to try a Pellet Master.
I use lowes or home depot 5 gallon paint buckets. I live in Arizona so I am not to worried about the seal just leave anything wet out for 1 hour and it will be dry. I wouldn't trust them to any place that has an average of 50% humidity or higher.
If you want a good smoker, and a decent grill then the smokefire might work for you. It has some issues, like you will have to put a drip pan under your meat if your smoking pork butts, or brisket. A bit of a pain to clean out. If your looking for a dedicated smoker on the cheap the pit boss...
I have a pro series pit boss, and I developed my own controller for it. Now it is the best smoker I have. However, most people don't have those types of skilz. I used a small pit boss Lexington as the red headed step child (put parts that you can buy off amazon to develop the controller). The...
I definitely recommend the smoke fire. There are very few if any pellet grills that will go from smoke to 600 degrees in 6 minutes. My poor gas grill is no longer getting much attention, as the smoke fire does what a smoker does and then what a grill does. They have fixed a lot of issues, I did...
There is a timer function on the grill, and yes a low temp alarm would be nice. I just put in a PID controller I developed and built on my pit boss cabinet smoker and it will spam you with text messages when the grill goes wonky, like opening the door/lid. I like Weber’s execution of the app for...
I have found raising the water tray from the lowest rack up to the second or third rack helps a lot with this. The remote probe placement is also important, if it is to close to any wall or front glass you will find it reports a hotter temperature than over the water pan, experiment with your...
This weekend I also went out and purchased a Smokefire ex4. I have done 3 cooks on it. Brats, then dogs, and finally some steaks. I find that it does get to 600 degrees. It did a lot of firmware updates when first set up. So far so good, I am doing a pork butt on it today. I want to see if I get...
Pitboss vertical you will have enough money for a cover and several bags of pellets. I have every grill type that burns fuel charcoal gas stick burner pellet. The pitboss pellet smoker rivals my stick burner with smoke taste without the ordeal of managing a fire.
I would go with the pitboss cabinet they can hold large amounts of pellets. Won’t break the bank, and if you ever want can do a lot of food. Plus the cost is within your budget.
Not to knock Kroger but I find they like their briskets a bit much. You would be better off with a Sams Club or Costco brisket. You can get prime for the same price but a much better cut of meat. Kroger briskets are way too much hard fat and not enough marble for my taste. I started off on those...
