    Too early for bourbon?

I am hosting a dinner for church council I serve on. Like a lot of churches, we are seeing a decline that if not arrested soon could be the demise of the church. If funding for Headstart is cut at the federal level, we are toast. None the less, this team has been working hard and is pretty...

Asking for Prayers for Myself and Family Today

Wish I could give you a cup of coffee, a hug and just listen.

Do you use toppings on your chili?

My chili is so rich, it doesn’t need much other than the standards of cheese and onions. I do put out sour cream, but I don’t use it! Chili on a spud is good too.

    BBQ Rebuild

We’ve had the Broilmaster for over thirty years. This is the second rebuild and I’m amazed that I can still get all of the parts. I really like the cast aluminum kettle, it holds the heat evenly and cooks beautifully. But, the burner was rusted out and the valves were weeping a bit. I replaced...

Asking for Prayers for Myself and Family Today

I’m so sorry for you and your family. I can’t imagine what you must be going through, I hope you have good family support. We have lost too many very old and close friends to cancer this year.

Jerky Cut across or with the grain

I do with the grain. My jerky is softer so it isn’t a problem.

    Pulled Pork for a Friend

Thanks for the likes! We had some for dinner tonight and it was very tasty. I am very happy with the smoke generator mod that I recently made. I’m getting very consistent smoke. I‘m glad I did the smoke yesterday in the nice weather, today it rained hard.

We just returned from the Netherlands visiting our daughter and the cutest 2.5 year old granddaughter on the planet! I can prove it, I have pictures! So back to the real world. A friend is having a shop raising party Friday and asked if I could make some pulled pork for the crew. You bet! I...

    Best Top Load Washing Machine

Speed Queen. Told the store owner I didn’t want digital, no Bluetooth, no water saving, just rotary knobs like grandmas. They still make that model. It has been great and gets my dirty garage clothes clean!

    Bœuf Bourgignon

Well, simple as in not a lot of insane ingredients. There is a lot of prep and steps to follow. I found getting everything prepped ahead and at hand saved my lardon. Had to have that ready too. The secret is low and slow just like smoking. The recipe called for baking at 375 for an hour. That...
