I just not had much luck doing unwrapped ribs. Always tough. Many years ago I did ribs on an ECB and they turned out great so I know it can be done. Got smoker going 250 which will probably run closer to 275. Using smoke tube with hickory chips. Following Hey Girl of basting with apple...
...advise you to avoid using Kingsford blue bag as it's the worst ash producing fuel I know of. Just like my experiences with my first smoker, the ECB, I feel KBB would smother the fire in an Akorn.
I got some Big Green Egg style felt gasket material and added it to every joint between parts of...
I will, I'm pretty sure this will be a fly by the seat of your pants type of smoke. The pic is from a way younger me, but even back then I had my ECB going!
...sold the company and name. New company introduced a Weber Smoky Mountain clone that quickly earned the internet moniker El Cheapo Brinkmann (ECB). The offset got even more El Cheapo in quality.
The last of them (bankrupt around the 2015 mark) were even worse quality. In your own words "in...
...hole to start with . Same thing should apply to yours . Use it first , as is to see what it does .

Just read about the recall . Look through that link on how he added holes to the side . That model didn't have the bottom hole , but if...
...the smoked meat hobby, and this group, I'm happy to return to SMF with a new rig - Trager 575 Pro Pellet Grill. I learned on a charcoal Brinkman ECB and graduated to a Lang-48, 14 years ago. Life took me in different directions which strayed from my beloved hobby of smoking meats, but am glad...
sumosmoke - now hear's a blast from the past! Like so many of the Old Guard, I forget the last time I recall seeing one of your posts. Welcome Back!!
Looking forward to seeing you break in that new rig!

Back when I joined, Char griller was king, ECB was queen, UDS were common, pellet grills didn't yet exist, and a select few owned real smokers like Lang. My how times have changed.
...(just kidding!)
Seriously, though, I initially wanted a stack for my propane (same config as yours...vent/slits in the top rear), so I'm going to paint this one black and install it on that one.
HOWEVER, I have an extra daisy wheel from back when I did the ECB mod, sooooo...:emoji_wink:
When I bought mine, I was aware that some do, but according to the Amazon reviews, the one I bought didn't have it.
I've used it in both my gasser (trying to warm smoke) and in my old ECB mod and it never turned off on me.
I’d just like to see your stable of smokers.
Could you give us a video tour of your smoker stash.
I remember seeing you in your front yard with a Brinkman.
You were in 20 mph winds, showing everyone that you can smoke anything on a ECB. That was when I first joined up here. Been a great ride!!

I was given a bag of treager apple wood pellets, and thought I’d use them on my ECB this weekend for a 10ish lb pork butt. I’ve never used these before, any suggestions? I was thinking on just dumping a cup or so on the coals once I get the temps leveled out. I don’t have a container to allow...
