    Combination smoker and pizza oven?

Hey all, after searching for brick smoker builds and finding that they all pretty much lead back to this forum, I figured I should just start at the source with my questions! I'm interested in building an offset vertical brick smoker, very similar in design and concept to steveaggie's build. It...

    Newbie from NE WA

Greetings and welcome to SMF Currently in FL for the winter but go back to farming in MN for the summer. No livestock, just wheat, soybeans, and sugar beets. A couple of moderators on the forum raise hogs. Don't know much about the various breeds so I had to search out Mangalitsa. Quite the...

60 Gal Offset build - Technical questions

I had an Old Country Brazos before the Franklin. It had a damper in the door and I always cooked with it 1/2 open. Never had any reason to vary that setting. If I opened it up wider, or cracked the door open, it increased air flow into the cooker. And that smoker has this baffle on the...

    New Brick Smoker Build

Nice lookin smoker... I've read a few brick builds ... If I remember they said start with really small fires this helps the curing of the cement process... I know it takes 28 days for cement to cure properly ... Good Luck with it and will be watching...

    Combination smoker and pizza oven?

I have no chimney on my oven. All air in and out to the oven goes through the door opening. The door to roof height ratio is critical for proper heating and cooking in this type of oven. JC :emoji_cat:

    Fire management help

So, last Sunday I managed to burn a pretty good fire after using some of your advice.... I burned a smaller, denser coal bed, right up at the back of the firebox and managed to maintain it there with very little unburnt charcoal pieces at the end. I'm in email exchanges with the smoker builder...

    Double check before build

I am getting ready to build a trailer smoker, this is my first build so I want it to be correct. I have done some research and would like someone whos done a build to double check before I proceed with fabrication. Below is what I have came up with using the feldon calculator. This will be a...

Some Holiday Welding Projects (Lotsa Pics)

Nice builds! That is very stout material in those projects @tx smoker and @RJB. Local fab guy at home calls it the 3 elephants rule. If it can support ... Check with @JckDanls 07 Keith has a slick beer & charcoal chimney pole that is portable for camping use. I'm making one when I go home next...

    Dino bones for our Grandson

Ribs look great! Basic thermodynamics says heat transfers from hot to cold. There must be another heat source that you are not measuring. Did you use hot broth when you poured it into the pan?

    Quality Budget Friendly Trailer Smokers

Look up bell fabrication in Tulsa Oklahoma. Owner is Craig Bell. He builds great smokers with 3/8in steel at a very affordable price. Mine isn't trailer mounted but @bauchjw just bought one that is. Same as mine but on a trailer with a warmer box and flat top...

Venting a smoker in a shed

You don’t have issues with smoke accumulation? I will be building mine off of the back of an existing shed. It will be about 10’x10’. Where it attaches to the existing shed it will be 10’ high and pitch to I would think around 9’. Whatever my BIL builds! I am using this as an example...

    Combination smoker and pizza oven?

I will definitely keep you all updated and post pictures, I love looking through the builds here and want to contribute! Where is your chimney? Is it offset to one side to retain more heat under the roof? I definitely won't be making my smoker that thick and insulated, so hopefully that will...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

I got it fired up to 265F today with a non-GFCI outlet. I shut it off and removed the panel. The connector was too hot to touch. I think if I left that panel off during cooks and ran a fan on it (I have a solar charger I use a DC fan with to cool the Auber) it would prevent further China...

First time out with our new rig.

Steve... That Smokey Joe makes the best camping smoker there is... Just search for Mini WSM's builds... there are many here... what's nice about them is you don't have to modify them so they can still be used as a grill as well.. 2 cookers in one ... We have downsized our camper... went from...

MES Rewire Simple Guide - No Back Removal Needed!!!

Yeah the safety limit switch is a binary fail point. The switch is Normally Closed to begin with. If the connectors fail/corrode and the heat builds up at the switch tab or connector it will heat the switch up so much that it "opens". When it opens its like a break in the wiring so no...

Which Needle Valve assembly for MB ThermoTemp Smoker?

I started out with propane for my smokehouse... But to get the temps low enough for sausage/snack sticks the flames were real small... they blew out often... happen to many times and I never felt safe... Once flame goes out it's just pumping raw gas into the smokehouse essentially becoming a...
