Are you looking for a Carver Ham? I've also bought Frick's ham at Walmart. But you now know how to make your own!

...interior and prep it for seasoning, I'll get the "grand tour" photos taken and of course I'll start a thread for those. Then there is the ham smoke, even if it's "just" a doublesmokedham and normally a ho-hum type of cook (but I still love ham this way).
More to come soon, if not...
For Thanksgiving dinner, I'm smoking a bone in ham. Some family members are traditionalists and don’t love the idea of pulled ham. Considering collagen breaks down at 160, would wrapping the ham at 150 and pulling it off the smoker at 185-190 yield a more tender, sliceable ham instead of the...
I have in the past doublesmoked a ham in advance, then on day of event, which just so happened to be Easter... used a cooler and sous vide to reheat at home. Then when time to leave took sous vide out closed cooler and brought it with us... no need to worry about it getting cold. Depending on...
If you are doing sliced I wouldn't get anywhere near 200° with the ham. I wouldn't go above 140°. The ham is cured and already cooked so you are just adding flavor and reheating.

Thanksgiving coming up. Got a couple of spiral sliced honey hams to smoke. One for my folks and one for the future in-laws. Coated with honey then sprinkled with a hickory honey rub from McCormick.

My Sam's Club got a shipment of Carver hams two weeks ago. These guys usually are only stocked between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and as many of you know.... I make annual holiday gifts with them.
So, on an impulse... I stocked up with Easter in mind. Frankly, at ~$13/each these are roughly...
I've got a country ham source that makes North Carolina salt-and-pepper hams, which are unsmoked and very old school. My normal means of cooking them is to soak for 3 days with several changes of water, then simmer for many hours, with a couple changes of water. I finish with a glaze and bake...
From Doublesmokedham into a man wh0re!

So I made some bean soup w some bones and meat I had left over from a doublesmokedham. The only beans that were available had this lil nugget of heart attack wrapped in cancer included. Powdered ham flavor which I'll assume also has a ridiculous amount of sodium and fake flavoring.
I didn't...
Stopped at my local Kroger on the way home from work today and they have spiral hams on sale this weekend for $.99/pound. We really like doublesmoked spiral hams and this is the best price I've seen in a long time. Hope this saves you some money if you like them. I picked up 4 and my freezer is...
Nice find Charles.
Deviled ham to add to pulled option. Doublesmoked is another option.
I get an impulse buy on deals and then try to figure it out from there.
