You gotta see these Crabs. I'm back!

Had to drop a post and say hey.... Red and I have been up in Maryland to a Hog Rally and just got back home so I've got a lot of catchin up to do. This forum has gotten so busy there is no way to catch up when your gone for a week.
While we were visiting Maryland my cousins wifes sister and husband invited us to do some crabing on a tributary right off the Chesapeak Bay on Kent Island. What a ball. We ended up at the end of the day with over 40 of these Blue Crabs and some of them were 8 inches. You just don't get any better than this. We steamed them up right off the boat. Ended up getting to bring about a dozen home. I think Red is gonna make us up some crab cakes.
Sorry I've missed so many great smokes. Gonna try and catch up the best I can. Looks like everyone is slammin the pork to the ol thin blue.

Nice! I love crab. We used to go to Baltimore's Inner Harbor and have crab on the crab boat. That is until hubby discovered he's allergic to shellfish. That was the end of that!

Welcome back, sounds like you had a blast.
Guess I am the oddball out here. Crabs along with anything else that lived in the water is no a go for me.
I have tried and tried but have yet to enjoy any of it.
And my Grandmother is 100% sweedish right off the boat, go figure. Guess my Irish genes are much more prevalent.

Welcome back, Dave! Yeah, the forum's been a great place for everyday vacations lately. Sounds like you had a great time in Maryland...no doubt about the blue crabs being good eats.

You reminded me of a 2 week visit I had @ Solamon Island (sp) back in the spring of 2000 for work. Man, the Mom & Pop seafood eateries there...buffet style....OK, I gotta shut up now! (slurp)

Good to hear that you had a safe and enjoyable time away.

Man they are some big crabs...we're only pulling in a few keepers right now...we're in back waters off the intercoastal in southern NJ, just inside Delaware Bay. Gonna be on vaca for two weeks so hopefully we'll get some keepers then!!

WB crab. We still have a son that lives in baltimore and travel to see them but only during crab season.
