Howdy Folks,

I will be building a new deck this spring and would like some ideas on a base/underlay for my smoking and grilling equipment. Preferably something that is strong, can handle high heat (under the smoker), easy to clean, not an eyesore and cost effective.

Lets hear what you guys use at the moment, or would like to be using!

Awhile back I found a hard plastic formed grill mat that has small built up edges so nothing leaks out of it and that seems to work well. I got it at either Home Depot or Lowes it was made for a grill but works fine with the smoker

Metal mechanics tray from your auto parts store. I have them under my GOSM and OK Joe offset. Run about 8-10 dollars a piece.

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and pick you up 12 or so ceramic tile for less than a dollar apiece. Butt them up together and you have a nice looking fire proof mat. I have 4 big 16 inch tiles under my gas smoker and it works great and looks good.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Easy to clean also.

Thanks for the suggestions fella's. I'm really liking the ceramic tiles idea, as it would look the best and would be easy to clean, fire proof, and easy to relocate around the deck (when the wife gets on her frequent rearranging of things)
