I can't believe I ended up in this group. For the past 12 years, I have only used electric smokers. I never had any plans of switching to charcoal until very recently. The reviews for the UDS were very positive and the thought of making my own smoker seemed cool, so I decided to give it a try.
Yesterday, I burned most of the exterior paint from the steel drum. Hopefully, I'll be able finish paint removal this weekend. There are still several steps to go, but I'm hoping to have this wrapped up in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to participating in some UDS discussions.
