I am a cabinet maker & sometimes have lots of wood cutoffs & scraps of red & white oak, cherry & maple.
Would these cutoffs make good smoking wood?
They would not work for me because, I have a pellet grill. Someone else might get use out of them if they would work.

May be true when it goes into the kiln but one doesn't know all the places or treatments it may receive before you receive it.

As said better safe than sorry.

I used kiln dried lumber scraps when I had my offset.
The last bag of RO Lump I purchased was roughly 25% kiln dried scraps.

If lumber was treated with something, it would mess up the staining and varnishing
