Wood dust

About to order an amps for a MES 40 that I'll pick up this weekend, and was wondering what the "dust" was for? When would you use that instead of the pellets?

 Some like it better for cold smoking. I use pellets only because they work better for me.

I use my AMNPS for both hot and cold smoking in my MES 30 Gen 1. For cold smoking I place a couple of plastic milk jugs about 3/4 full of frozen water to keep the temp down. When I first got my MES I researched the AMNPS, the Masterbuilt Cold Smoker, Smoking Gun, and Smoke Pistol and chose the AMNPS. I've never regretted my decision; I've benefited from it.
