My dogs love the big brown truck! They know exactly where he keeps their treats!

I live within 1/2 mile of an Amazon distribution center. Quite often, I will purchase something, and it will come cross country with no problem. Then it gets to my town, and they drop it off at the USPS. WTH? That adds another 2 days to the delivery.

How about when you order a $400 toilet and UPS delivers it in many pieces?

If you want some real fun just start dealing with ltl truck freight on a regular basis.

I haven't had any issues in a few years (knock on wood!), but I once had a raincoat I ordered from Amazon bounce from its origin (Texas) all the way across the Gulf Coast, up the East Coast, on to Colorado, then BACK to a different facility in Texas before FINALLY getting to me over a week late.

Alaska must be loaded with stuff that disappears in the mail. I had a package disappear there too. And, like 02ebz06, the tracking showed it was out for delivery before making its way to Alaska.

I live in RI and I had a tshirt go from California all the way to Mass and then out Illinois then back to Mass and then another short trip to Penn then back to Mass and finally to my doorstep in RI.

So hit or miss up here...All of the delivery companies threw down a new policy over a year ago that there would be no deliveries at the door. Everything is left on the curb, but there is no "curb" in the mountains. its dirt/half asphalt and they would just leave it in the snow, where ever. Bought a patio box, but the drivers change so frequently some just put packages in front or on top of the box. its ridiculous.

The most creative award goes to the fedEx driver who started putting packages in the tree.

I wrote recently in a Recteq thread that my driver came several days early with my new smoker, catching me completely by surprise when he called me at work one morning to say he was at my condo building door with it sitting out front on a pallet. I had no prior notice that he would be there, and had to leave work in a hurry (commute 25 miles by bus) to go haul it in.

I don't know what happened but I think Covid hollowed out a lot of businesses. My local FedEx ground service has been terrible. I live on a shared driveway about 1000 feet from my rural roadway mailbox. Despite my instructions to FedEx to place packages on my covered porch at the house with the RED garage doors 1000 feet up the driveway. Only 1 in 20 gets delivered properly. Everybody else gets my deliveries correct. USPS is another subject. FedEx has tossed items on the lawn / driveway. The have left large items at my roadside mailbox, luckily I have such good neighbors telling me that's a nice ladder or power washer our by the mailbox. Strange thing is problem is only with FedEx ground, as they are subcontracted to FedEx. But I do have to fault FedEx because they allow it.
I believe drivers are under pressure to perform and dont really give a hoot. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

It took two months for USPS to deliver my moms mothers day card and she only lives four hours away. They lost a replacement blade for my LEM grinder that had tracking on it and sat in KC for two months. I called LEM after it sat there for two weeks and they mailed a new one that showed up in three days. About a month later it showed up. Crazy.

An update on the toilet above. the lower bowl was shattered and the upper tank was never shipped. One great thing with the Amazon return process is that is so easy.

They will pick it up on Thursday from my house and give me a refund.

Are delivery people taking naps instead of working ?

I had a package that was "out for deliver". Next update showed it in Tolleson,AZ. Been showing there for last 3 days.
Had package from Fedex out for delivery today. Now says "operational delay" and scheduled for tomorrow.

Then there is this beauty:

Forgot one, sent a Christmas card one year and it got there by Christmas, the next year.

I once had a customer overnight (FedEx) $576,000 in checks for a very large print and mail job I was doing. Never showed up and they sent me replacements. About 6 months later the FedEx guy shows up with a beat up envelope and a embarrassed grin on his face. Said it had probably been wrapped up in the sorting belts for all that time........

I used to service the lighting for several UPS distribution centers in the greater Seattle area. I can attest that I would occasionally find a package wrapped in Xmas paper that had fallen under the belts, the next Spring.

The FedEx guy also told me when they were decommissioning a sorting machine they found a 2 year old overnight envelopes in the belts that contained World series tickets. I wonder how that was handled back in 2011????
