Ok,

it's time to get serious about the blood sugar and drop some of this weight.  I'm looking for tasty, low calorie, whole grain breakfasts and any unique methods you have to prepare eggs and lean meats.

I found this looking around and will try it this weekend if I can find the ingredients today.

Sorry no smoked meat in this one

2 1/2 T bulgar wheat

2 1/2 T brown rice

2 T       barley

2 T       Quinoa

1/4 C    Oats

1 1/2 t  cinnamon

3 C       water

1 T      Vanilla

combine in crockpot   6 -8 hrs on low.  Add water if needed.

Thanks,

Al

Mark,

Just wanted to touch back with you about this cereal.  I made a double portion putting the cereal in the crock pot on low at about 21:30.  First of all a double recipe is a lot of food.  Once it absorbs the water it just about filled my crock pot.

It was delicious,  a unique, very filling meal.  Not your plain old oatmeal that you need to work to make appetizing.  I put a bit of nf evap milk and sweet and low in it.  Next day I used some chopped up apple.

Most of the cereals are available in the better grocery stores but I had to find the Quinoa at a health food store.  I also used the whole grain oat berries instead of oatmeal.  Make a note, if you do this you need to let the Quinoa soak for a while before draining and adding to the pot.  It has a compound that adds an off flavor to it if not rinsed well.
