What was the last concert that you went to?

I agree about the ticket prices. It's made me reconsider a lot of concerts I might have attended several years ago. Plus crowds in the tens of thousands aren't my thing anymore.
There is a local venue in my town that hosts a lot of licensed cover bands. Not quite the same, but still nice, and most tickets are about $25-$30. Last one I saw there was several months back, a Heart cover band called "Heart to Heart". Features two of the original members (drums & lead guitar), now both in the R&R Hall of Fame. I've seen the original Heart a couple times, and no one can match Ann Wilson's vocals, but the lead singer came close. And the one standing in for Nancy looked and played a lot like her.

I went to Hank Jr and Whiskey Myers this past summer at an outdoor amphitheater near me.

I'd been looking forward to that show for months, but I made a mistake. I'm cheap, so I wasn't really interested in paying the ridiculous prices for beer in the venue. So of course I spent a little time with a bottle of whiskey in the parking lot. And then I didn't need to sneak in a water bottle full of it, either, but chose to anyway.

From what I'm told, I had a lot of fun and the concert was good!

They're still putting on a great show. Vince Gill has joined them and is maybe the star. I would like to go see them but ticket prices are through the roof. Nose bleed in an arena go for $500 each.

And they've been at The Sphere in Las Vegas, I think Sept to Dec. That venue is amazing, I can't describe, just Google.
Love me some Vince Gill! Killer guitar player!

Hmmm wife and I took the little guy to his first concert at the Minnesota State Fair this year. Saw Jon Pardi, county guy. Had a lot of fun, put on a good show. The little dude loved watching and singing along. It was awesome.

Les Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade, played Animals in entirety. Great stuff, he also cracked out the whamola for a great version of Simon Says. He's unbelievable.
Now that is one show I would've asked for extra mushrooms on my pizza.:emoji_wink:
I've heard him play a few songs off of Animals, but not the whole set, that would've been a KILL'ER show.

Concerts have gotten out of my price range! I just watch them at home now. I sure miss going though. If I had known Styx was in town recently I would of gone. Seen them so many times and always put on a great show.

Yes, the big arena acts are expensive. It seems to me, the tickets immediately hit the secondary market. People buy them to sell and then demand sets the price.

But there's a lot of good shows in smaller venues. Lots of blues/rock acts and the tickets are reasonable.

We saw Three Doors Down/Candlebox in Dallas last year (Drummer for 3DD and my wife are friends) - Lucinda Williams was the most recent @ Austin City Limits but one of the best shows I've seen was Joe Bonamassa at Red Rocks. Wow! What a venue and what a great artist.

Now the first concert was Ted Nugent back in 1979 and yes, we saw UFO's on the drive back home from the Uncle Ted show :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing: :emoji_laughing:

Mrs Okie has tasked me to get us to see JoeB at Red Rocks. I got to work out the logistics.

His dvd's from his Red Rock shows are great. This last one " Tales of Time " was particularly good.
