Well,,, it’s most usually a very thick cut rib steak. That in itself is worth something if you enjoy rib steak.

I like it for the ridiculousness factor. Now granted, I've never had one since beef prices went crazy, but on my birthday I tend to request silly things that I would never do on a regular basis. Usually it's a crazy thick T-bone cut that our little family of 3 eats and we still have leftovers.

No real purpose to me other than that.

I bought 1 when I was recovering from Covid the first time, had ate very little for 2 weeks, there in the yellow bin was a 3.5 something Tomahawk for $13, took me 2-3 days to eat it as I couldn't hold much, best ribeye I ever had, can't remember if the dog got the bone or not, he was wife's dog and she was strict on his food. Think the only reason she let me have it as I had been so sick, I might have cooked it rare and she don't eat pink :emoji_laughing:

My daughter BF is in Australia!
He got a nice cut reduced!
Asked me how to cook it?
He did fine without me!

It’s mostly presentation, however if you can find ones that have a good amount of tissue still on them…..then you can plate the “rib” and for me this is my fav part….i always cut it “not clean” like above…..eating the beef off the bone is a thing!!
