Also, by 1978, Steely Dan was writing a song about FM .... there was " no static " .......... which if you lived in that time, you got that completely .
Song surprisingly written by Warren Haynes, of Allman Bros and Govt Mule, but Joe has made this his song
My wife and I met Joe at Emerald City Guitars in Seattle, WA last year. We were up there before she had to go back to work after taking time off to care of her dying Mother her last days/ months of battling cancer.
As soon as we walked in I heard Joe's voice, and told my wife that is Joe Bonamassa, and sure as $h!t it was him. I introduced my wife and myself by saying Hi Mr Bonamassa, we are big fans, and he says "STOP, my name is Joe, and I don't have fans, I have friends". I said Ok, Joe and we started talking. I asked him if he had a show up there, he said nope not right now, and that he was chasing a 1956 vintage burst Les Paul that he's been after for 10 years. He asked us if we lived in Seattle, we said no and told him where we live, and why we were up their. He asked me if I played guitar, I said yes, a little bit, and he hands me this $80,000 Les Paul and says show me what you've got, I replied by saying "not much, Joe". So I plug into this old Black face Fender Princeton Deluxe amp and belt out a few quick licks, he says, you lied your a guitar player, I say I'm not where I want to be, he responds with well $h!t nobody ever is. Then he takes his guitar back and says follow me, and he brings up into the back room of E.C. Guitars and has my wife and me sit down on this little loveseat while he's plugging into this old Dumble amp. Then he proceeded to play for my wife and me for almost an hour. Then he looks at his phone and says crap I have to get out of here or I'm going to miss my flight home. What a cool dude, he took the time to play for us like it was nothing too him. We will never forget that day, one of my top 5 guitar hero's of all time took the time to help cheer us up after losing a family member, man did that hit us hard. He could tell how much we appreciated it...What an awesome dude, I will forever respect him for doing that for us, how cool is that???
Dan.
I was more shocked with him handing me over the guitar that he had just took ownership of. I mean come on, there is no way in hell I would just hand some random dude an $80,000 guitar. Well I guess if I owned as many as he does I might. He also gave me a few tips on what I need to practice daily, so my running joke when people ask me how I learned to play guitar is Joe Bonamassa personally taught me in private lessons. LOL!!!That is extremely cool !! But I have to say, its not totally surprising. I follow him on X , have for a lot of years, and that sounds like the guy on X and also the guy countless interviews I've watched. Although, the playing for an hour part , wow, that's way more than I'd expect.
No pun intended, and I've never met him personally, but just following him for a lot of years, he's an Average Joe. Very humble.
Mrs. Okie loves the guy and his music. We've been to see him so many times, we've lost count.
We watched the Hollywood Bowl dvd last night and then Mrs Okie played Greek Theatre, which was nominated for a Grammy and should've won, that was a helluva good show. It was the Three Kings show.

I think we just lucked out and the timing was right, and that he just wanted to make sure the guitar was what he was expecting before he paid for it.
For whatever reason, we will forever be fan's of Joe.
I've never seen him live, but really want to go see him play at Red Rock.
I'm not big on crusies but my wife is trying to get me to take her on this one.
I just don't like being on a set timeline, and it's not cheap. I could spend a couple of months in Italy for what it would cost for us to spend a week at sea with Joey B.![]()

I'm not real fond of traveling either, and my wife has plans for us to go to DC, NY, and Philly this fall, not thrilled!!!Yes, the cruises are too rich for us , also. And I always thought a cruise was a good place to get sick , haha . I can see spending thousands and then stuck in my cabin sick. And after Joe's last cruise, he was sick for a few days after he got home.
Red Rock is on my Mrs Okies bucket list, she wants me to get us there. I can't work out the logistics, just yet. I keep saying, next year. I've got a travel phobia. Its an irrational fear of traveling. Its come on as I got older. IDK, if we ever get there.
We found Joe in 2009. He had played Royal Albert Hall and put out a dvd of the show. It was on VH1. We went to see him in Tulsa not long after and we've been fans since.
We really love that he puts out a lot of DVD's. We've got them all. And they get played often.

I get sea sick as well, if I don't take my S.S. meds, which is why I didn't follow my family into fishing for a living, it just wasn't for me. I've been on three cruises, and felt S.S. on two of them until I took my S.S. meds. Being S.S. bites, it's worse than the flu I.M.OP. no fun at all.
That Royal Albert Hall Concert is legendary, man he was so young back then.
I just played the whole DVD last week while I was smoking up some short ribs.
It was nice outside that day, and I had my sound system pumping.
I have seen Joe a number of times. A true professional in the biz. He opened for the Rolling Stones in Seattle and the only other artist that had people paying attention at the 9 shows I attended was Samantha Fish.
I am listening to my recording of Neil Young in Copenhagen, Denmark last night. What an absolute treat to be here seeing him with his new band. Looking forward to 3 more shows on the tour. He is digging deep into his collection of songs and waiting to see what else he plays.
