Well after yrs of loud music, construction, and many, many thousands of 45 ACP, .223, & 12 GA going off next to my head.

I finally bite the bullet and bought hearing aids. I was tested several yrs ago with significant high pitch hearing loss, but was to proud/stupid to get them then. I've noticed my hearing has been getting worse each yr. Missing out on family conversation, or at least parts of it. Not being able to hear people in a crowded room and so on. Today was mind blowing to me, I can't believe I waited almost ten years to get these things.
I have to wait until my set gets in, they ordered them this afternoon.
I was able to try four different sets out in Costco, I want with Sennheiser because the others sounded unnatural to me, like I was hearing a loud TV or radio. The pair I chose sound so close to natural speech and music that I am extremely excited to get them. I actually got emotional hearing them for the first time. I could hear conversations going on around me, and change being made at the checkout counters 50 feet away from me.
It was mind blowing.
I haven't hear the whistling wings of ducks or geese pitching into my decoy spread in almost 20 yrs, I haven't heard crickets or tree frogs in over ten yrs. I'm utterly excited about this. And they were very affordable, under $2.000 without any help from insurance.
That is a steal in my opinion. They can steam misic, be used for phone calls or to block out background noise. One thing I wish they did was supress loud noises like gun fire, but that's ok I have some digital hearing protection for the range. My hearing was so bad I wasn't able to go with the 100% in the ear aids that I was hoping for, but these behind the ear aids are so small you can hardly see them, they look like they are part of the temples of my glasses.

Misssing out on soundsand family conversation was so frustrating too me, that it actually made me mad at times.

I'm sure they will take some getting used to, but I can already tell that I'm going to love them.

I can't wait to hear the critters around me again.and they really cut down the ringing in my ears, that drives me nuts at times.

If you're anything like me, don't wait anymore, just do it.

I think my wife is more excited about it than me, she won't have to be my interpreter any longer, and hear me say, what, or huh 100X a day now.
LOL!!!

Make an appointment, it's painless and easy.

I'm so glad I decided to follow through with it , this is going to change my life for the better.

I am a retired ENT Doc and for a long time I didn't realize, even with my expertise, that I needed them. My wife kept telling me I talked to loud and I kept saying I am not talking that loud. Finally a light bulb went on and I realized the problem. Since I had been in the Field Artillery for 5 year in the 60's my hearing loss is profound. But thanks to ever changing technology, I am in my 3rd iteration of hearing aids and keep hearing improvement. So all you people out there who don't think they have a hearing problem, listen to your spouse or significant other when they say your speaking loud or you have the TV volume up too high, and get your ears checked. Life is too short not to enjoy the sounds of nature while you smoke your meats, So now I am off to smoke two turkey breasts and prepare my 2 pork bellies to start the process on some more bacon.

A few years ago I got tested, and the only range of sound i had trouble with was that produced by my wife!! :D

I had moderate hearing loss, and went with an OTC brand called Banglijian, a reputable Chinese maker of personal volume enhancement hearing aids. All they do is increase the volume of all frequencies, with some noise cancelling. No bluetooth, no phone integration, no tone choice except "high" and "low", 7 volume choices.

Cheap ($250), rechargeable, warrantied for 3 years, and they work for me.
