In sure this has been beaten to death but my lovely wife is getting over general grilled/smoked dinners. Steak chicken pork. Done them about every way. Turned buffalo chocked into a salad, turned pulled pork into cuban sandwiches. I found some pre-made bacon wrapped stuffed chicken, that was a home run but I need more stupid simple new ideas. Store bought easy to assemble because I get off work at five, have to pick up my little dude get home and cook dinner. Bed time is eight. Leaves me two hours plus or minus. Sorry for the long read but I know you got ideas. Thank you in advance.

Cook ahead and freeze... can be chili, taverns or loose meat... whatever you call them. Lasagna, multiple casseroles. There's always breakfast for supper. Grilled cheese sandwiches are always good.

@Brokenhandle "loose meat" so Iowa of you. Trying to get outdoor cooking to keep the boy off the tv. I can play ball etc while cooking. Side note, was a trailer around here that a guy made me a deal. Try the loose meat sandwich, if i don't lie it i don't pay. Think he may have retired but I followed him around. Those are good.

Chunky soup over rice. We actually have stand ins for when my wife asked my son and I what we wanted for supper and our answer was I don't know or I don't care... one was taco casserole, the other was a chicken and rice casserole. Also have been known to read through cookbooks and recipe boxes... always old meals we have forgotten about.

My wife is the the creative one in the house when it comes to food. I'm much more creative when working on vehicles when things don't go the way they should. When I am left alone at home to make my own meals I turn into bachelor mode: TV dinners, pb&j sammies, grill cheese, fresh pizza from the gas station (Hunts Brothers), soup, Cajun sausage on the grill, etc. I will cook some bacon and French toast for breakfast once in a while or scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage but only for breakfast. Other wise it is cold cereal, a banana and toast.
