I have had a Performer for 10-12 years and will be the last cooker to leave here, love the gas lighting , haven't needed matches in years lol. That said I bought a 18" Jumbo joe for traveling, tumble weeds and a stick lighter works when no electric for the heat coil

I still love my Kettle even though I don’t use it very often anymore. Hard to beat the versatility, especially with so many 3rd-party accessories. I love the Slow n Sear, but I think my favorite accessory is the OnlyFire pizza oven topper. That thing works like a champ!

And whenever I do use the Kettle, I’m amazed at how much more space it has over my KJ.

Cornell chicken sounds like an ideal cook to break it in with! I only discovered that version of chicken a couple of years ago and I love it!

Needed a new charcoal grill.

Just ordered a 22 inch Weber Original Kettle.

Had one about 40 years ago.

Looking to get reacquainted.
You won't be sorry. Still the best and most versatile grill/smokers around, imo.

I would have said the same thing, until a tree came down and smashed mine. I'll be checking Craigslist to get a new/old performer soon. I prefer the older ones with the plastic table and gas lighting.

Look into getting a slow n sear for your new purchase. Love my webby22
Craig, do you have a pic of the SnS in your 22". I have one, but it's for my 26" kettle. I wondered if they made a smaller version or if it's the same one. The one I have fits in the 22", but it doesn't leave me a whole lot of indirect grate space to use.

I’m not Craig, but I have the SnS in a 22” and it leaves plenty of indirect space. I’ve cooked a 14 lb brisket using it and had ample space. I don’t have a picture handy, but I’ve pasted a pic from the SnS website that shows the dimensions. It’s only 8-1/2” deep, leaving 13-1/2” of indirect grate space. The SnS Deluxe, which is what I have, has the same dimensions.
