I thought this worth a read. Don't mean to start a $^#%storm, but it's relevant and applicable especially now during an election year. We, the People- NEED to take charge- somehow.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

THE 545 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERICA'S WOES
BY CHARLEY REESE:

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank. I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason, they have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton- picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a SPEAKER, who stood up and criticized G.W. BUSH for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE THE SCOUNDRELS
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ . There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do. Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess.

Good read, there will be change. BUT, I believe that this change will only be in different faces, and that is the sad part for all of us.

Who ya gonna vote for they're all politicians...

Remember when I said in chat "I wish they could give America back to the people"?

Even tho we were talking about jobs, union...etc The bottom line is the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It seems to be who is shaking hands with who to make more money. Wheather it be classified as a "joe blow American" or "the worker", its the lowest on the list that pays the price. Always has been.

Hows American Axle doing? Ive heard they want the workers to take a $12 an hour pay cut. I know in todays times that you can live comfortable and secure your future AND have great medical benis on $14 an hour!

I guess they should realize that Im sure theres someone that will do thier job for $10 an hour. I wonder how many "golden parachute" pakages Executives have had? How many BAD decisions theve made being in management? Im sure that that has nothing to do with the FAT in corporations.....Its always those nasty wages!

As far as this election, I would like to see a homeless person run. Someone whos grown up poor, knows what its like to struggle and has been kicked around and lied to from employers. Someone who has NO political interest except the SECURITY and WELL BEING of the typical American citizen.

I want to add 1 more thing, NOT to sound like some sort of wacko or activist but, I believe it does say in our constitution that WE have the right to over throw our GVT IF we feel our lives are in danger. My question is, How do you classify danger?

I deal with low income housing/affordible housing. One of my bldgs is 60 years old and up. Its sad to see them go through life because they cant afford prescriptions. Ive said enough!

Couldn't put an honest man in office, they'd kill him! I've always said "fire the whole bunch, put the janitor in charge, he's the only one who knows what is really goin on and can live within a budget"! There ain't no winnin for the average man. Oh and by average, I mean your income is less then 250K a year.

Well said!

Whether your a police officer, an Infantry grunt, or assembly line worker, your the bottom of the barrel in the big perspective of things.

I remember I worked for a little factory in Michigan. I was just a factory rat makin $9.00 an hour stampin out clutch plates. Well we had a problem with the die, as it was, inconsistant with the cut it was making.

This went on for several months and we used to get plenty of overtime checking this clutch plate. The company spent $30,000 on a jig that checked them for us. We would have to load it, of course. If your not from Michigan, I wouldent expect you to understand what Im writing about. Jigs, dies, etc. Just think of a mold.

I grew up in Detroit and have been "exposed" to various skilled trades from hanging out from various parking lots from various factories. Can ya tell im being discreet?

Anyway, I told my production supervisor what I thought the problem was. I thought it was the cut bade in the die. It was loose and wobbling. He blew it off and "production" continued.

Well, we had a GM rep come down wanting to know what the problem was. They called everyone involved into the office. They wanted to know why they were getting so many bad parts? Before the meeting my stupidvisor said "Keep your mouth shut about that die".......Now I was young and grew up in a hillbilly family with the ethic.....shut up and keep your job.....I know now, dont do that!

GVT and corporations are all the same to me.....Looking for more money. Weather it be raising taxes or cutting wages....its all relavent. Ive been in 8 counties and 14 states, its all the same to me.....just a different lingo
