I forgot to post this when I was in Ga. I bought a knife sharpener in Cabellas, the clerk asked if I was a Vet .I showed my I.D. and received a 5% discount. All the stuff I bought in Pa. noone ever asked.
The Bass Pro in Auburn, NY offers a 10% discount on most things for vets. They also have discounts for law enforcement, first responders etc.
Lowes and Home Depot both have 10% discounts for vets but I'm unsure if that's for all vets or for currently serving and retired vets. As a retiree I just show my ID cards (the same as when I was still in).
Applebees offers a free meal to vets on Veterans Day.
A lot of other places have veterans discounts so it doesn't hurt to ask.
