Bought a vacuum sealer last weekend and I think I made a mistake. Tried to seal a wet brined tri tip and for the life of me, this thing would not seal.
Are all vacuum sealers created equally? I know that's a siilllly question.
Is there a reasonably priced sealer that actually works? Or, can I make this one work with, "moisture, wet" seals.
Respectfully,
A big fan of the SMF.

What kind did you get? There are a lot of threads here regarding Vac sealers, I have a food saver that works ok, But I am going to up grade to the vacmaster. Contact is Lisa B. She is a site sponsor.  Pm. her and see if she has any insight for you on yours or what to do next.

Any suction type sealer you cant seal any type of liquid.   It keeps the seal bar from making  a good seal.

I have put a paper towel at the end of the bag to catch the liquid with some success.

It can be done, but you need to cut the bag about 6" longer than you need.

Then keep the bag & liquid below the level of the sealer. I try to hang it off the side of the counter.

When the liquid gets close to the seal, just push the seal button & it will stop vacuuming & seal it before the liquid gets to the sealing bar.

I have a Food Saver and have not had any problems vacuum sealing.  Like SmokinAl says, just hit the seal button before the juice hits the bar...

If you want to upgrade to a machine that is made to vacuum liquids, then you need a chamber vacuum sealer.

Yep, I have been thinking of going that route, I chk'd Lisa's site and am thinking of going with the 380, I don't wet seal that often, But  I am still looking into it. Which is the best route? Not sure. Guess I should start a new thread with that?? Sorry not trying to hijack this one.

I did the paper towel thing for years and finally went to a chamber vac.  Loving it so far and the bags are inexpensive enough that you will find yourself using it much more often.  I do at least.

I have the 380 & am extremely happy with it.

I finally broke down a couple months ago and bought a ARY Vacmaster VP112S. The initial price shock took some getting over but I now wish I would have bought it sooner. I also bought a case of bags at the same time. $75 for 1000 bags. I can literally vacuum seal a bag of water.
