So my decade old foodsaver is giving up the goat, its been a trooper but its about time to put her out to pasture.

I've been reading up on the Vacmasters but I have a question. What's the purpose of two sealer bars? Is that to make it compatible with the foodsaver rolls, as in you can seal up both ends at the same time?

Not sure the exact model your looking at, but the only one I seen that looks like it had 2 sealer bars was the 16" unit

They have 2 of them to allow for sealing 2 bags at once side by side.

I cant imagine having the dexterity or the patience to try and seal 2 of them at one time, as I get a bit flustered just trying to seal 1 and not make too big a mess. When my foodsaver went KIA, I ended up getting the newer one that had the least complaints as they do seem to have dropped in quality over the years. I picked up the FoodSaver V3240 and its been doing well so far.

My first food saver lasted forever. Almost 25 years. My second one sucked, as in it wouldn't suck air or seal well.

I bought the Vacmaster Pro380 from Lisa at Vacuum Sealers Unlimited and it's been great.

I purchased it because of the width. I wanted to be able to seal larger bags. It also does allow for doing more than one smaller bag. Which if set up properly isn't that hard to do.

I buy all my bags and rolls from Lisa now and take advantage of the discount codes she has here monthly.

The ultra bags are great and I recently started using the zipper bags for things like jerky, smoked cheese and snack sticks.

Im thinking of one of the chamber sealers, Two bags at once, that makes sense. It just has to be big enough to put a pie pan in, the misses makes quishes for the family for xmass

I have 2 VacMasters

My Pro260 only has 1 sealer bar. My VP112 chamber sealer has 1 bar but 2 heat sealing strips. In the 112 you can only do 1 bag at a time.

I had an older model food saver that went t!ts up last year. Got the latest and greatest food saver as a replacement. Does a great job and is easy to use. My major complaint is the canisters and reusable zip lock bags. None of the containers that shipped with the unit are worth a damn. No rubber/silicone seals so they do not remain air tight for long. I purchased the new model canisters and they work great as they do have a sealing strip incorporated in the lid. If you go for a food saver just get the machine itself....the kit containers are useless.
