Time to get together with my Brother and his Wife again. Normally we go to Mexico, Playa Del Carmen and might still be an option. He is at his place in Maggie Valley North Carolina right now and thought about going there to see them but would have to take an American Eagle flight for a non-stop and don't want to do that. I do really enjoy Playa. Thought about waiting until he goes back to his house in Florida. We only seem to see each other once a year. He has some airbnb's in Puerto Rico but does not go there until winter. His son has some Airbnb's in Colorado Springs and Puerto Rico also. I must be doing something wrong! Where are my Airbnb's? Thought would ask for some other idea's that don't break the bank.

Staying at a place they already own would probably save a few bucks. Where do you want to visit that you have not been? We've been to OBX, Carolina Beach, CO, Yellowstone. All were great. Not sure I'm ready to go on another cruise, but I think their prices have come down some. I'd decide first on beach or mountains? Or something similar so you can at least knock out half the choices. You like to fish...ever been to Canada?

Out of curiosity what's the issue with that flight?
Its an American Eagle and those seats are just to small for me. Been several years since been on one but I remember saying never again! I like Spirit where I can get a big seat for not to much extra. I will only do non-stop. I thinking of just going Fl when he gets there then just go Mexico in Dec. Tom says might not be to safe there right now?

When the wife goes to Roanoke to see her daughter American Eagle puddle jumpers are the only option!

Went to the Dominican in 2009 with 3 other couples. Was absolute best vacation ever, definitely 5 star. Was actually very affordable back then, not sure nowadays. They will certainty spoil ya while laying around on the beach.

I have a cousin that lost a 1/2 brother on vacation a few years ago, they were somewhere south of the boarder for his birthday, local gang had issues with the resort, wife was shot but survived. I hated it happened but nowhere is 100% safe these days. heck it can be bad in the states these days. there is a lot of great places here without having to have a passport and armed guards. I will see Niagara Falls from both sides someday, going to have to have a passport though lol

San Juan mountains. Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Lake City. The history & beauty keeps drawing us back. Rent a jeep or SxS. Ride the narrow gauge railway. Camping, Fishing ... there is plenty to do if you like rugged outdoors type of adventures.

Also, Arkansas is full of adventure and closer for you. Dig for diamonds, rent a SxS near Mena or Hot Springs. Great rivers for rafting. Lots of trails for beautiful drives. Eureka Springs is a beautiful place. My first trip was as a kid to Dogpatch USA 🤣.

After 17 years of flying all over the world for work I personally prefer to drive now. I will find all my future adventures right here in the U.S.A. and driving will always be my first consideration.

Hope you have a great trip Brian wherever you decide to go! Live life and be happy. We're only here for a minute...

If you want to stay within budget and enjoy a new experience, you might explore destinations like Asheville, North Carolina, which is nearby Maggie Valley and offers beautiful mountain scenery. For a more tropical feel without flying internationally, consider visiting the Florida Keys, which are also reasonably priced. Alternatively, check out affordable Airbnb options in smaller towns or off-peak travel times to find a hidden gem. Sometimes exploring less popular destinations can lead to wonderful, budget-friendly adventures.

well, it is hot here right now, no storms out there yet. Sept and October could be different. I'm in Miami-ish. Most early storms tend to be Gulf storms. I don't get wound up about much any more. I did stay home for Wilma, way back then. I won't do that again. I won't "Cool" off down here until November-ish.

Still working on it. Think I really like about Playa is you can walk pretty much walk the whole city. We like to drink and eat and also some good bands. Mornings are nice to hang around the pool. The drinking and driving don't go together! I never been to New Orleans? Hmm indaswamp indaswamp ?

The resort at Punta Cana has 7 different styles of eateries at it. Can't remember all but Thai, Italian, and such. Very good, and buffets galore breakfast and lunch. Nightly free shows in pavilion atmosphere.

Just talked to bro. That close to his places in PR. He says that area pretty heavily patrolled right now on the coast due to trafficking. We decided I just come to Fl when he gets to Melbourne Fl. late Oct. Maybe take a short cruise or something. If I did not hate driving so much I would take a drive to NC. Still try do something in Dec. Seems like the week or two before Christmas there are less people at resort areas.

His son has several Airbnb's: https://www.stayriserentals.com/properties
My brother has two of the top ones at that Casa Tiburón

Your post caught my eye because I’m also looking for some fresh vacation ideas. I usually meet up with my cousin once a year too, and we always end up going to the same spots. I've been eyeing Maggie Valley; it looks like a peaceful getaway. But if you're not feeling the flight, I get that. Recently, I stumbled upon something a bit different: Onahama's cruise calendar. It seems like an offbeat adventure! You can check out their schedules on cruisetimetables.com. It might be fun to try a cruise; I hear they offer some budget-friendly options if you plan ahead.

If you’re thinking about going international but want to keep costs low, Puerto Rico is a great idea—especially with your brother’s Airbnb spots there.

I just hate having to fly to Miami from Texas first! Right now I am not sure when my brother is going to be able to get out of NC. Was planning on meet him in Florida later this month. Pretty much decided on going back to Playa Del Carmen.
