YTD Shootings in Chicago are at 191. I do not feel less safe in Mexico, especially not the resort areas. People will stop coming and tons of money to be lost, so it’s kept pretty safe.
On the all inclusive; what’s an ocean front drink cost in the states, $20-ish plus tip? Seems pretty easy to hit all inclusive fees, even before you include the food.
Not trying to talk anyone into it, just keeping some from maybe getting talked out of it.

Family VACA!
I would first make a serious list:
1 Where do you want to go to ?
2 For how long ? You could rent a high end house/ condo: If yur kids need to go back home ?
Stay an extra week or longer ? 2 wks or ? Off season is a $ Saver !
My parents had a nice beachfront condo in FL, walk out the door to the beach !
What is yur primary focus on this VACA?
Thinking want yur kids to be with you most of the time ?
3 How much $ are you willing to spend?, Not my business, but got to figure it out ?
Cruises and all inclusive resorts , some have extra costs, depending on what you signed up for ?
IMO: All inclusive resorts are over priced, with then knowing you will not use what you paid for!
Furthermore, you have a nice family group, costing some serious $?
IMO: Agree on a Location that you all agree to, then see what is available that will offer the perks you are looking for?
Are willing to drive or just FLY ? Again can add up $?
Personally? I would stay away from Mexico ! I do not feel Comfy there!
Folks want to tell me how great it is,? NOPE!
I can go on about it, going to leave it at that !
Sorry for the rambling?
Reach out if you need any more info?
GOOD LUCK On yur VACA!
Completely disagree on all inclusive being over priced. With a little due diligence it's close to impossible to match the cost when piecing together flights, rooms, food, drinks and entertainment. I have never felt like I didn't get my value. Perhaps that's just me.

You can “beat it” with air bnb, condo, house rentals. Someone is shopping, cooking, cleaning and bartending then. It’s a different vacation experience - I’ve enjoyed both.

Texas has some really nice ranches....they do all the food and "even allow some hunting of things"...... LOL I know you and the boy would be down but not sure about the daughter and Mrs!....

I would second the south or south east coasts of the US. There are some really nice places you could stay and do

What about renting a houseboat for a week or so? I'm sure are lots of places to rent them we saw some in Western Kentucky I think it was Land between the Lakes or that area years ago that looked like a lot of fun. Lots of beaches to go to as well if that's more the thing for your family.

Sounds like fun but I have this thing about driving water crafts...I need a brake to stop...lol

The TX ranch sounds like fun though. Supposed to be heading for FL Monday but we are expecting snow Sunday night.

Fort Myers Beach is awesome !
Rent a gulf front condo !
There is enough to do for everyone !
The trolly/bus is nice so you can fully enjoy Party time!
Times square has shops and good food !
There are near by day trips also.
Lovers Keys state park Rented Kayaks : Enjoyed so much we own 2 Kayaks!
Sanibel Island
Holiday inn had a 3rd party : rented Jet skis, Again I got a Jet Ski too!
Bonita beach and Naples are near by.
There is a daily ferry to Key west,
My parents finally bought a condo on the back bay.
Very sorry I did not invest in a VACA property decades ago?

We had a townhouse just outside Disney we rented out then sold. Now would love to get a place in Hawks Cay (near Islemorata key) to rent and use.

We have a vacation spot at Vidanta which is about half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Its a luxury resort with fantastic amenities. We just got back from staying there for 2 weeks. Its Vidanta Riviera Maya. If you want more info dont hesitate to reach out. I am an owner and can get you the owners rate for a week.

That would be really cool if you could PM me some info. Very much appreciated. We have narrowed our choices down to Hawaii and Mexico.

Do you and the family like any kind of auto racing/motorsports... Cruise in Alaska ... Fishing/hanging out in the Keys... ??????????????

Really enjoy NASCAR, but not into it as much since our drivers retired. One day would love to go to a race though. My wife and I had a rivalry back in the day and race day or night was glued to the TV. My driver was Dale Jr and hers was Jeff Gordon. I also really liked Mark Martin, he just seemed such a classy guy. Now days I tend to root for Ryan Blaney.

Alaska cruise and Keys sound like good ones to add to the list for future.

Thank you everyone for the replies, we have narrowed it down to two… Hawaii or Mexico.
My issue with Hawaii is the amount of the time that is taken up in flight. I've also been told that if you do go to set aside two full weeks to cover the flight times and the sheer amount of things to see /do.

Thanks Jeff, definitely something to take into consideration. Appreciate it.

Another thing I always did with my all inclusive vacations is to ultimately book through a travel agent. My process would be to settle on two or three using Applevacations online. I'd then give the agent those 3 AND the pricing I could secure without them. Without fail they always got me about the same price but with more perks, better rooms and better flights.

Mexico really with all the crap going on down there.
Yes just me but State side would be kinda high on the list at the moment…..my co worker is in Hawaii at the moment….his pics look awesome…. I’ve been told by many that have been is either you spend two weeks or keep the sight see list smaller so you don’t kill your self running around…..

Hawaii is very nice. We have done Kona and Maui. I prefer Kona as its got a nice slow vibe, les crowds and touristy shenanigans. Maui was beautiful and fun, but noticeably more expensive. We did week ling trips to both and that was a good amount of time.
