I'm looking at two different backwoods smokers. One is an original fatboy for $1800 in pretty good condition, and one is an original party for $1500. The party is looking a little rough, but it is 7 years old and has been kept indoors and under a cover its whole life. Both smokers have been fitted with wheels, and the party has the optional stainless steel doors.

Which one of these sounds like the better deal, and would you avoid either one for that price?

Is the Fatboy deeper then the party? Have a larger coal pan and water pan? I never seen one and the description says it burns longer then the party and does not require trimming briskets or ribs and also accommodates full size steam pan. If that is true over the party model I would pick the Fatboy but offer a little less

Welcome to SMF by the way. Looking forward to seeing pics of which ever you choose.

I’d likely buy the fat boy. 2” insulation and bigger firebox. Looks to be built like a tank. Where are you located. There is a 270 XL cabinet in West Virginia for sale now for $1600. Same smoker I’ve had for two years. That’s about half price. It runs like a dream. Dial it in and it will hold temp for 12 hours on a load of lump and no guru needed. I can dig up the link if interested.

Thanks for the help y'all! I'm located in Memphis and that's where both of these are located. I'm probably going to go with the Fatboy. Whichever one I buy, I am looking to use it in competitions for years to come, and with the shape this one is in I think it's better suited for me.
