Urgent can I use a lime to hold the temp probe?

Title says it all.  Forgot to pick up a small potato to hold my air temp probe for an 8 hour or so smoke that I just started.  Are there any issues a lime might cause like damage to the metal from the juices or the lime might give off some odd flavor during the smoke?

A potato would be better but I don't think a lime will hurt it

I've seen people use a dinner roll or bun also to hold it in place.

Thanks guys, I'm running out to the store in a few anyway so I think I'm just gonna grab a small potato to be safe.

Why don't you keep it simple and just wad up a ball of aluminum foil to poke the probe through?
