checked out harbor fright on line they only show some tiny ones that doesnt hold up according to the reviews, got no experience with rare earth magnets but have read

they are pretty strong-- found some  on ebay for $4.99 each the size of a penny ,thoughts of putting two on each door top and bottom would that do it?? be overkill??

would think it needs to be tight not to allow smoke to leak around the rope seal  will do some experimenting will keep ya informed  anybody else got a diffrent

solution??        thanks Bruce

after reading more rare earth magnets are heat senstive and fail to work in temps above 176 degrees would be guessing if it could reach those temps placed outside the rope seal?? will study more   Bruce

What about the old cabinet closures inside the doors not the magnet type but the pinch on one side and ball type on the door itself??? I think they are all metal and could screw to inside of smoker bty cool looking smoker.

will look into some old time cabinet hardware tomorrow at lowes and home depot ,  i will  post more pics when complete    thanks for the sugesstions

Try a website call WWW.mcmastercarr.com. I order from this place for work when we have hard to find items. The cool thing is if you are in a hurry about 98% of the items in the catalog are in stock and you have next day at a very cheap freight charge.

thanks all   have decided to go with toggle clamps  like these will post pics when done started the seasoning process today. burner runs great, very easy to maintain

temps from 225-250 without the clamps had some smoke leaking around both doors used stove rope to seal       5/8 in rope is pretty stiff      i belive with these clamps

should work perfectly                  bruce

will post some action shots  if ya need toggle clamps try grizzly.com     their price is half of what i was finding anywhere else

the above pic is from the cook today, babybacks, baloney, and hot links  turned out great  can maintain 230 all day long no problem with the afterburner, currently

using the can method for smoke have a smoker generator nearly finished,  have to do some fine tuning on my burner air to fuel mixture to go lower than 230
