Howdy!

We just opened up our Masterbuilt Electric 40" smoker and it wont turn on. Tried it in working outlets so it must be the unit itself. Anyone have this issue??? Any suggestions?? got a call in to MB but was hoping there might be a fix someone else has experienced? TIA!

Set the timer to 24 hours....  set the temperature to 150 degrees....   the light should come on.....  Dave

The timer needs to be set after the temp is entered before the unit will come on.  I know this because it didn't take time to RTFM that came with the smoker...   Totally my fault...

What happens when you hit on/off?  Do you get a light?  If yes follow the instructions above set temp then time.

Kitchen outlets are normally 20am circuits, drag it into the kitchen and test on a kitchen outlet.

Ditto on what others have said about setting the timer, etc..  My first MES 30 wouldn't start the second time I tried to use it.  It only made a faint clicking sound from the electrics on top. When I called Masterbuilt, they diagnosed it as something I couldn't fix myself.  They asked that I return the metal serial number plate from the back and a piece of the power cord. They sent me an entirely new unit within a week or so.  Excellent customer service, though a definite quality control problem.  I'm happily back in busiiness, and now merely need to find a way of disposing of the old box.

All of that said - don't start cutting things up until Masterbuilt customer service tells you to!

Good luck!
