UDS vs Horizonatal Drum Smoker...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each...Is there a differance? I think I can find drumes pretty easy. I do not have a welder, but could get one to use if needed. :) Really interested in building a smoker...

Your second or third choice will offer a more accessible cooking space but slightly less area. You get about 805 sq in. verses 831 with a two rack UDS. You will definitely find parts for the UDS easier to find and track down a Craig' List 22.5 inch Weber and you will get a cover giving extra space and one of the two grates you will want. Most of the UDS guys love them. They are a cheap no welding build and with the right vent placement and setup, are very set and forget smoking. Decide how much you want to spend and the amount of effort you want to invest...JJ
