Hey all, I am new to smoking, as in never done it. All my slow cooking has ever been done in a crockpot. Well a coworker of mine shared some meat with me and has me interested in it. I was going to do an outdoor kitchen with 2 big green eggs so I can have a slow cook and high heat going at same time for parties. Looking more into it it appears I can build a uds for under 100 or dbs for a little more and just have 1 bge + smoker and save 1k. Are there any pros/cons to a uds vs dbs that I need to be aware of?

I love my uds. It was way easy to build. I can dump in an 18 pound bag of charcoal and do about 25 hours of smoking on it. Once it is set it can hold Temps all day. I have noticed that when the wind changes my Temps get thrown off. I have smoked from -20 outside to in the 80s. I love mine.
