Brokenhandle did a thread earlier this year on turkey legs that sounded very good. As luck would have it a few weeks later I seen the weekly flyer from JBS that supplies the locker with boxed beef that I worked part time for before retiring and one of the specials was a box of 30 lbs of turkey legs for 30$.
I told the kids instead of our kinda semi annual shrimp boil I was going to cure turkey legs and boil a pot of sweet corn.
The turkey legs were cured in Pop’s brine for three days and allowed to dry in the fridge for 24 hrs. A smoke tube was placed in the YS640.
Two dozen ears of corn boiling.
I also made KFC copycat coleslaw for the feed. Two lbs of butter was melted up and poured over the corn. For the adults corn Franks hot sauce was added to the butter for extra flavor.
Plated up
Couple bites in
After we ate we celebrated Perry’s fifth birthday. He was born during the Derecho and his mother had to be moved 3 times before his delivery that summers late morning.
This was a very fun eating fest and everyone loved it it and everyone went home with the extra's
