Ive been to 4 supermarkets and none of them carry belly or back.
I want to try making bacon. I'm marinading the buckboard bacon now

Save a lot
sweetbay
publix
wyn dixie
3 of them didn't even know what it was.
Ill check at sams club if i get a chance

Now i'm thinking of fileting the buckboard bacon before i smoke it

Do you have a local butcher? I think you would have the best luck. Some meat depts in the big chains can order "specialty" items
 
i feel your pain scotty.........there are some stores around don't even know what a flank steak is........gypsy mentioned his local butcher said there wasnt suck a thing, i believe....

there is a thread round here that lists the cuts of meat and their numbers so maybe they can be ordered that way...........i will see if i can find it

I see they are just south of county line road. We go to weeki wachee almost every wednesday to a hardees bike group gathering. Maybe we can leave early one wed. and go check them out
 
If you order one make sure to ask for a fairly lean pork bellies. The first one I order from our local butcher was wrapped in brown paper and when I got it home it was a slab of nothing but fat.

I remembered that there is a huge butcher shop out in the country about 17 miles from my place.. After a conversation with the counter guy, i determined that they didnt butcher any animal on premises and that ALL thier meat was trucked in from a supplier.
They could order belly or back for me if i took 60 pound boxes of it. !95 a pound.


Family meat market is next on the list. I will also see what there is in altamonte springs next week when im watching grand children.

I also rememberd a guy that i bought a whole pig from about 7 years ago. I know he butchered it but ill have to check and see if he still does it.

I know things may get redundant, but if your store carries "side meat" that is sliced pork belly uncured,unsmoked. Then thet should have the bellies. This probably dont help,cause side meat = bellys
 
tom i'm a persistant fellow and will finD the source of supply and maybe will have to buy another freezer to store it.

If not ill have fun witH kielbassa and other sausages. Then ill geT to pastramis and other brisket and rib items.
This bacon is just calling to me.
