Trailmaster Reverse Flow?

If you have searched and searched on the forum for a reverse flow mod for the Brinkman Trailmaster and all you have been able to find is mods for tuning plates baskets etc...

Are you wanting to turn it into a reverse flow?

If not I would look at the mods for a char griller.....

Yes, if anyone hadn't tried it yet, I am picking up a trailmaster this weekend and tinkering with a reverse flow mod...

Not saying it would not be a good idea.....

The smoke stack would need to be moved to the other side and a RF plate figured out. On the char griller you use the bolts that attach the legs to the cook chamber to mount a bar to. You then place the tunning plates across. The catch is the opening to the fire box is higher then where the plates go across. So you have to angle a plate to push the heat under the tunning plates.

The single most important mod I did was the charcole basket....... Don't have the link, but there is a no weld fire basket plan on SMF somewhere..... I'll keep looking for it.

I have one in my hands now...I will lay everything out, look at some RF pics and call my welding buddy "hog lips" to see if we can get a reverse flow trailmaster built out. I will post pics of the process...

I made a plate to relocate the firebox lower and block off the chamber enough to clear the plate.

Cut the main body lower for the new location of the firebox.

So how well did it all work? Good flow? Even heat? Brick the bottom?

Also, how did you do your drip pan? What I mean is, I'm assuming it lifts out easily (see handles), and that it acts as your baffle/plates. So is it tapped to take drip tube and you must unscrew it to remove pan or what? Thanks btw, looks great.
