finally got my q-view from lat week up. here it is:
this smoke from last week turned out pretty good - it had cheese and hashbrowns rolled inside jimmy dean maple sausage. i was going to add some onions, but forgot.
inside looked really good:
we sliced it up and ate it on toast.
during that day, i babysat a pork butt (which is in reality a shoulder) for a welcome home barbecue for my #1 son who came for a visit.
here it is coming after coming off the smoker and resting for about half an hour. you can see good smoke penetration here:
when we went to pull it, it came apart very easily....
it was a little drier than it should have been, but otherwise it was very, very good. a vinegar and pepper-based carolina sauce amde the perfect sidekick for this steamy pile of pulled pork!
Turkey done now too, wow this Brinkman kicks butt now that I have it all mod-ed up. I'll post pics of my last mods, it worked GREAT!! Briquettes burned all the way down to nothing, no unburned coals, I could get any temp I wanted. yeehaw!
here are the birds (I took a taste off the chicken leg oh man its the best chicken I have ever tasted!!)
very good looking, ron - congrats on your first birds!
be sure to save some leftover and try that pot pie recipe. it's a good one for a grey rainy or winter day and the smell that goes through the kitchen and the house is very close to heaven!
