Walking around the meat department I found something I have never seen or cooked before. A pork loin rib half for $1.49lb since meat is priced stupid these days I grabbed one. Looked around on the forums and decided to give it a go today. Rubbed it down with some code 3 spices rescue rub and the 9lb rib roast is nestled in the smoker for the day. Not sure how long this will take but gonna treat it like a pork loin. Any tips would be greatly appreciated about cook temp and how to treat it. If I need to wrap it etc. thanks

I was gonna say those are common at Schnucks , ten I saw that's where you got it .
That's a great price for that too .
Treat it like a loin as you said . I wouldn't wrap it .

First time I have seen one at Schnucks but then again we only recently have schnucks in warrenton.

Heck , you're close . I saw they closed the Krogers on 47 , is that the new Schnucks ?
Schnucks has a great meat department . Some great sausages made in house too .
No the old Kroger building is empty now they built a new schnucks off of veterans memorial right next to hwy 70. It’s smaller than most of their other stores but I like having something other than Walmart close by. I keep meaning to travel to Troy and check out Kroger seems like they run decent meat specials sometimes.

Looks great and in for the rest of the cook/smoke
Good price and nice piece of pork

I like to cut them into double thick chops .
That is what I was thinking when I saw it , would do a couple very nice loin chops
Cut a pocket in the chop and fill with onions mushroom's and some cheddar. Mmmmmm

Made one of those a month ago. Same situation saw it on big sale and took a chance. It was awesome. Don’t have access to recipe right now but I think I cooked at 300 or 350 on pellet grill. Pulled off at 145 if I remember correctly. It was very good.

I’m happy with how it turned out the smell was amazing.

The slice was tricky but I figured it out after messing up a couple. The flavor was great and was very juicy. Overall I would call it a success and I’m tempted to run back to the store and buy more to toss in the freezer or break down into thick chops.
