Thinking About Using a Propane Regulator.

Some people have recommended that I start using a regulator for my propane tank. What are the advantages and/or disadvantages using one.

Does it install between the tank itself and the gas gauge?

There probably talking about a needle valve. It installs after the gauge, between the gauge & the burner. It allows you to really fine tune the flame & temp on a gas smoker.
