Hey all,
My wife washed the probes on my thermometers last time. She didn't know not to get the connector wet.

Fast forward to this morning. I inserted probe in butt when placing on smoker. Probe temp was showing like 125. After awhile it started working correctly and was showing @ 10 degrees higher than another probe I stuck in the monitor meat. Then it started showing way above again?

I'm guessing the probe is now toast?

It does have a calibration button, not sure how it works. Can it be re-calibrated and be ok? Or do I need to replace the probe?

Thanks

Are both probes plugged into the same temp unit or are they two separate units?

If it is two separate units, I suppose you could try calibrating it, but the way it's behaving sounds more like a probe issue. It's probably toast.

Two seperate units. Yeah, I'm thinking it's toast too. Just looked and a new probe cost $18.00. Next time the wife will remember to not get the probe wet.....I hope! :)

Did you get a chance to heat and dry it out completely? I did that to one of mine some time ago. Just put whole thing in smoker except connector, and continued on. Next time used it was right on the money again.

Been checking with the wife who is watching the smoker while I'm at work and it is running accurate again now. Hopefully it will be ok. If not, I'll get another probe.
