Thermo Advice

Hi There!! I am a first time smoker, I just ordered the Weber Smokey Mountain,it will be arriving tomorrow. I wanted to do a trial run this weekend with it to make sure I know what I am doing with it. Do you have any suggestions on thermo's??  I have my eyes on the Maverick wireless dual thermo, not sure if I should pull the trigger on it or not, I was wanting to know if perhaps I am missing something that is better out there. Whatever advice and knowledge you have would be greatly appreciated!!!  Thanks and Have a great Day!!   Owen

The Maverick is the one most have here and I have heard good things about them. I don't own one yet but that will be the next one I get.

I have 2 therms now, just cheap ones I picked up at Target and Walmart for under $20 each. Just make sure when you wash them don't get water in where the wire goes into the probe.

I would like to have a Thermapen also but they are $90, right now I have a Taylor that I picked up at Publix grocery for $15. It works but it takes a little bit to get a final reading versus the 3 second reading of a Thermapen.
