I have to bring some pulled pork to my relatives tomorrow for our contribution to the annual Christmas meal. It's currently 7 above with the temp to drop to -3 tonight. I put it in a 10lb pork butt at 9:00pm and according to my ET-732 the smoker is holding between 221 and 234. It's set for 230. I have an AMNPS that's putting out good, light smoke. I turned on the smoker at 4:00pm and ran it at 275 for five hours to get the cabinet heated well and it's covered with a blanket. So far. I'm pretty impressed with the cold weather performance of the MES 40. I guess we'll have a better idea tomorrow morning how this will turn out but so far so good. :grilling_smilie:

I just pulled it out of the smoker and put in in the towel lined cooler for a couple of hours. The MES 40 held temp all night down below zero. The smoker was outside on my patio covered with a blanket. The AMNPS ran a full 10+ hours without any issues or relights. Along with that the Maverick ET-732 never skipped a beat in the cold. Now I wait another hour or so and feed the family a great looking batch of pulled pork.

If you have any questions as to whether or not the MES 40 works in cold temps my experience says it does.
